Community Forest school

“Forest School is an inspirational process that offers all learners opportunities to

achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning

experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees"

Rewilding Forest School offers a Community Forest School on Wednesdays 10:30-13:00 (seasonal) at our woodland site behind Burview Hall, Walton. This group runs all year round in 6 to 8 week blocks. It is currently for children aged 2-12, do offer a drop off for children ages 6+. We do understand some children may require their parents to be with them initially until they feel comfortable. If you child has additional needs, we may require you to stay.

Our group will provide opportunities for, amongst other things: project work, den building, fire lighting, tool use, rope play and natural arts and crafts.

Forest school is a child-led environment - children are encouraged to follow their own interests, whether this is working with tools, digging in the ground, drawing and painting or playing imaginary games amongst the trees. The possibilities are endless! They are supported by the forest school leader and other adults within the environment to achieve their aims, whatever these may be.

Forest School can provide a unique way for children to socialise whilst learning new skills. It can help children develop a sense of deep respect and responsibility for the natural world which is becoming increasingly important in a world facing climate change and other environmental challenges. In addition, spending time in nature is linked to reduced stress, improved mood, and better cognitive function.

Bookings can be made through out booking site.

All sessions run by a qualified forest school leader and an assistant or volunteer. The Forest School leader holds an enhanced DBS and is a qualified first aider.
